Who we are

The ETH Centre for Research on Architecture, Society & the Built Environment (ETH Wohnforum – ETH CASE) is an interdisciplinary research centre with a focus on the socioeconomic, cultural and political dimensions of housing, architecture, and urban development. It was founded in 1990 and is part of the NSL - Network City and Landscape of the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich.
Our research focuses on the interlinkages between society and the built environment, on how people live together and on how they plan and use their built environment - in Switzerland, Europe and worldwide. Our projects address current housing, societal and ecological challenges, such as the causes and consequences of the global housing crisis. We pursue interdisciplinary and transidisciplinary approaches and cooperate with a wide range of academic, public, private, and non-profit stakeholders.
