The publication ANANAS – Leitfaden und Checklisten zur nachhaltigen Arealentwicklung für Städte und Gemeinden (ANANAS – Guidelines and Checklists to Sustainable Site Development for Cities and Districts) was prepared in cooperation with the cities of Basel and Zurich, the Federal Office for Spatial Development and the five largest Swiss housing investors. The manual contains principles and concrete procedural steps, illustrated with examples, as to how municipal and local authorities can position themselves in terms of urban planning, economic efficiency and social sustainability, and how in partnership with investors they can create attractive residential spaces and ensure better housing and living qualities.
