Every Autumn Semester

The MAS ETH Housing students are not required to take any additional credits in order to obtain their degree. However, the students can undertake elective courses offered by the ETH to acquire additional academic and professional competences. The students can enrol for elective courses through the My Studies portal of ETH Zurich.

Each participant is responsible for ensuring compliance with Switzerland’s entry, visa and residency requirements given his or her individual circumstances.

First Block

September – October: Core Modules

  • Social Innovation in Housing
  • Global housing issues, challenges and strategies
  • Housing Research Methods
  • Writing and communication skills

Second Block

January – February: individual research project

Third Block

March – June: MAS thesis and a Seminar Week

  • 1 year, full-​​time, 600 contact hours; 2 years possible on request. 
  • All mandatory lectures take place on Mondays. 

A Master's degree acknowledged by ETH or equivalent educational qualifications. Qualified applicants who do not satisfy this criterion may be admitted if they possess suitable professional experience and relevant additional qualifications.

The MAS ETH HS is primarily oriented to university graduates with relevant professional experience with a background in architecture, urban planning or urban design, but is also open to candidates from other disciplines (e.g. social scientists, interior designers, geographers) with an interdisciplinary interest in housing and human settlements.
