S5-City. Agglomeration im Zentrum

Gesamtschau und Qualifizierung des Agglomerationsgebietes entlang der Bahnlinie S5

The communities constituting the agglomeration around Zurich are often neither cities nor villages. Rather, they can be defined as urban landscapes marked by the advantages and disadvantages of both the city and the countryside. An example is the built environment serviced by the S5 inter-urban train line between Zurich and Pfäffikon: the so-called “S5 city”. An urban planner, an architect and two political scientists have formulated this vision: “Cultivate oases in the agglomeration with its faceless housing estates!” This vision is supported by the results of the research project „S5-Stadt. Agglomeration im Zentrum“.
