Article - "A Swiss university did a deep dive into Calgary's 'missing middle.'"

CBC News in Canada reports on Sibylle Wälty's project with students in Calgary. The teaching project deals with the issues of urban planning.

Downtown Calgary

This spring semester, students from ETH Zurich's Departments of Architecture, Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, and Environmental Sciences used the City of Calgary as a case study to examine current land use and explore where and how current zoning laws would need to be changed to create missing housing in Calgary by growing upward instead of outward, and how this would affect urban design.
"4D Geodesigning Urban Transformation" used technology, communication, and online learning tools and combined opportunities for online interaction with traditional place-based teaching methods.
