ETH Forum Wohnungsbau
First held in 2005, the full one-day expert symposium of the ETH Forum Wohnungsbau is the ETH Zurich’s foremost event on the topic of habitation and housing and urban development, and is widely valued as a compact programme of advanced education. The symposium is held every spring in Zurich. The aim of the event is, against the background of the interplay of academic findings and professional practice and by using guiding examples, to demonstrate and discuss the most current transformations in housing development and the relevant trends in urban-planning.
The symposium boasts renowned panels and serves as a platform and a meeting point for decision-makers in the fields of property development, architecture and construction, as well as federal, cantonal and local-level officials. It regularly attracts a wider public of up to 300 people from Switzerland and abroad.

ARCHITECTURES OF THE FAMILY – Dynamics of Living Together and Requirements for the Housing Market

Family structures are currently changing more significantly than any other social form. Although the built environment is slowly adapting, housing for the "nuclear family" still dominates the market. The 19th annual conference ETH Forum Wohnungsbau, "ARCHITECTURES OF THE FAMILY," sheds light on the dynamics of diverse family living arrangements, changing housing needs, and the architectures for the future housing market. At the conference, experts from academia, architecture, as well as the private and non-profit real estate sectors, will discuss innovations and solutions to the challenges of social change.
